If I Was Principal of Hosmer School
If I was principal of Hosmer School it would be better. I would make recess three times a day. Kids would play soccer and basketball. It would be good to have recess three times of day because kids would get more energy. Having energy helps kids with their work. Lunch would be for an hour. Kids would get more time to eat and get time to talk to their friends. Everybody would feel good. Being principal would be awesome.

Book Review
We have the Book Fair this week at Hosmer School! Here is a book review by a fifth grader. The name of his book is Astronomy by Dan Green.
Astronomy is the name of my new book. It is a guide on astronomy. It tells about facts on the universe and technology. It uses some fun characters to teach astronomy. My favorite character is Dark Energy because he's a puppet master. I recommend it to children because it teaches them about astronomy through fun characters.

President
Things would change if I were President. Kids would have more recess. It would make them less energized. Ten year olds could drive. Ten year olds could get places. I would get more money. I can buy more stuff. I would be happy. Vote for me.

The Night Crossing
The book is about two girls named Claire and Martha. They are trying to find their way home. I predict that they're going to run into an adventure. They may run into a place where they can’t get past. I want to make up the rest of the story.
I think that they're going to run into a bridge. The bridge pieces are not there so they try to find another way across the bridge. They find a door. It is a secret door. They don’t know where it leads so they follow the path.
It leads them to a vent. They go in the vent. It leads them to another bridge. It has all the pieces. They go over the bridge. The pieces start to fall. They run over the bridge really fast. Martha and Claire feel really happy and a little scared.

Month of May
May 1, 2008
This year I’m turning 12 years old on May 13. May is also a great month because it is my mother’s birthday on May 7th. It’s exciting to have two birthdays in one month.

Reflections of a Fifth Grader
When I visited the middle school I first thought it was really huge. After I walked around a bit I felt tired.

Panda, Panda
panda, panda
do you see
when the stars shine
bright for you
human, human
I see bamboo
for me to eat,
I see a lake
filled with
fresh water
for me to drink
and I see my
baby panda cub
staring back at me

My Mother
The best thing about my mother is that she is really nice and I can always trust her. I love her a lot. She is really, really cool. My mom is special because she is really nice.
She gets me nice stuff, but I like her for who she is. She is the best mom I could ever hope to have. I love her very, very, very, very much.
She makes cool food. She is a good cook. She makes awesome chocolate cake. She is awesome. I feel that she is magnificently fantastic. I am so lucky to have her!

Thank You!
To my fifth grader friend who helped me with blogging:
It was really fun to come in and blog with you. We got alot of stuff done. We both like video games and writing about them. The comic strips we wrote were really really cool and I loved them. I am going to miss you. Good luck in middle school!

Awesome Summer Vacation!
This summer I am going to go to Camp Hale and that is a neat place. It has boating, fishing, hiking and swimming. Then I will go to Zoo Camp for the last two weeks. I don’t know if you do anything else there but at least one of the things you do is feed safe animals. I hope that they tell you the right food to give to the animals because it would take me a while to figure it out. It’ll be a pretty neat summer!

How To Do Glitches
A glitch is when you do cheats in a video game. A cheat lets you go through a certain wall. If you get blown up, you don't die. Also when you keep jumping on a wall it will get you out of the level. Cheats give you a better advantage in the game. I think that game developers planned some cheats on purpose, but some are mistakes. I hope you like what I wrote.

Pokeman Crater - Newest Website I Found
You can play on Pokemon Crater absolutely free. It's for kids of all ages. If you go into maps, you can move around and catch Pokemon. If you go into gyms, you won't be able to catch Pokemon, but you can get badges. When you get all the badges, you can have your very own team of six Pokemon. When you have your own full team, you can catch Pokemon. My name in the game is harrythehorse. Visit it at http://www.pokemoncrater.com/

Horses
Horses
Pretty horses prance
around and around
in the paddock
in spring and summer.
Graceful horses gallop
in the arena
in winter and fall
at the barn.
Tall horses trot
outside and inside
in snow and rain and sunshine.

Appreciating Teachers
It is Teacher's Appreciation Week and some of the students have messages to pass along...
I would like to thank my teacher for making this a great school year. I especially liked reading and music.
(a fourth grader)
Thank you for taking me to the motor room. It helps make my day.
(a second grader)
Thank you to my second grade teacher for teaching me all about butterflies and letting us take care of them. I learned how butterflies live and what they eat to survive. At the farm in Maine, I sometimes get Monarch butterflies. The knowledge I learned in second grade helps me to know what to feed them and how to take care of them.
(a fifth grader)
Thank you for helping me on my work. You show me how to do some math.
